established in 2015 @the_recshop was a free pop up recording studio & artist development project for young people based in tottenham.

in 2017 i officially setup our social enterprise and since launching we’ve won the following awards.

today we are a multipurpose music space that provides a free youth programme, recording studio, volunteer agency, desk space, event space, bar/cafe & merch based in @mallwoodgreen

@the_recshop @mallwoodgreen has officially opened! 💞😝💞 who says dreams don’t come true? 😂 5 years ago i went on a mission, to say it was smooth sailing would be a little bit of an understatement haha...but i’ve loved the journey, i’ve witnessed my own growth, business expansion and most importantly all the seeds planted blossom into fruition. this is truly life changing and a significant moment for me. today is our first day of opening! i gotta go run my shop! we are now a multipurpose music space (that makes a difference!) we have studio, desk & event space as well as a bar & cafe! oohhh yeahhh #bosslady #wondrwomn #therecshop thank YOUUU everyone! especially those who helped put together our launch event! @mallwoodgreen @redbullmusicuk @alaisanfo_touma_touma @threadsradio @odthekidofficial @1jahlight !!!

🤩 how do i feel?

buzzing? excited? nervous?

i feel like laughing! if you would’ve told my 15 year old self, that one day you’ll be managing one of these shops or fast forward to the start of this year that The RecShop would be in a shop? 🤔💭

one thing i wrote on my vision board was ‘i’m going to upgrade to a new studio & office by 2020’ yes, we levelled 🆙

i’m so grateful for those who are supporting me on this WondRful journey! big love 💞💞💞 nice weekend all!

we are witnessing the destruction
of a western reconstruction
that birthed senior corruption
young leaders eruption
dismembered bodies flying
flee where you come from
we’ve been running
running from being captured, colonised to police with a truncheon
running from your identity
fighting for peace within london
why is it a constant battle just to b?
that body that’s deceased is a loved one
i hope we’re not too blinded to see
that being black is beautiful like that quiet silence in speech...
black represents fulfilment, emptiness
it’s history is deeper than the water we were shipped across for “cleanliness”
we’re more than just a colour, you’ll never tell me any less
rising when oppressed
first to protest though suppressed
the irony, black misery
highlighted in black history
a month marking your independence
is true freedom a distant dream?
i disbelieve this regime
as i believe strength during adversity
guarantees anything with certainty.

why WondRWomN?

well, when i was 14-15 i sat and thought real hard about what my artist name would be 💭

‘WondR’ comes from the meaning of being unbelievably great in a heroic sense, coming from the empowerment and confidence i developed through music.

‘Kid’ 🙃 i was a kid!

WondRKid became KidWondR then WondRWomN just made perfect sense!

what sealed it was when people would ask... ‘what’s your name?’

*clears throat* 😁 ‘WondRWomN’
