Our Vision

When young people are looking to start their music careers, those from low-income households are not able to get the necessary musical guidance needed. Because of this, they experience a loss of confidence, feelings of hopelessness and exclusion. This inability to pursue something that you’re extremely passionate about due to financial difficulties can often lead young people into alternative career choices, such as antisocial behaviour, unemployment, and idleness.  The RecordShop is a free recording studio programme that aims to make music opportunities accessible to those aged 16 – 25.

Our Format

Established in 2015, The RecordShop began as a free pop-up recording studio and artist development programme for young creatives founded by rap artist ‘WondRWomN’. Growing up, she identified that there were not enough opportunities available for young music artists to grow and develop, so she was determined to create a platform for upcoming musicians. The RecordShop run's four 10 week projects per year, where participants get the opportunity to create music with us. We also offer music workshops, events, and work placements.

The RecordShop

The RecordShop bridges the gap between the community and the industry. We bring young people into professional spaces and reconnect brands with youth and music culture.

The RecordShop is an award winning social enterprise that launched the first free pop-up recording studio in 2015, for disadvantaged youth who are unable to access music opportunities.

Today The RecordShop provides a variety of services that include free Youth programmes, Studio hire, Talent Agency services, Workshops, Consultation sessions, Premium services and Mentoring.
